Tracy Baim is Publisher and Managing Editor of Windy City Media Group. Baim started her Chicago journalism career as editorial assistant at GayLife newspaper in
1984. She was managing editor by 1985, when she and others left the paper to found Windy City Times. In 1987, Baim co-founded Lambda Publications, which
began publishing Outlines newspaper in May 1987. Since that time, Lambda (which changed its name in 2002 to Windy City Media Group) has started several
GLBT papers, including Nightspots, BLACKlines, En La Vida, and the OUT! Resource Guide. recently, BLACKlines and En La Vida merged into a new
publication, a glossy monthly titled Identity. In the year 2000, when Windy City Times was about to be closed, Baim decided to purchase the paper she had founded
15 years prior, and WCT merged with Outlines to become the city's oldest, most comprehensive and award-winning GLBT publication.
Baim is also co-founder of the Chicago Area Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce and co-owner of Third Coast Marketing. She has served on several boards, including Chicago 2006,
bidding to bring the Gay Games to the Windy City in 2006. In 2001, WCMG purchased the 7-year-old Lesbigay Radio, and renamed it Windy City Radio. It airs
Sundays night on the 50,000-watt WCKG, 105.9 FM. Baim received four awards from the 1999 Q Syndicate National Gay Press Awards the most for any one
individual in the contest, which received more than 1000 entries. Outlines received 13 awards, the most of any gay paper in the contest. Baim was also one of
Crain's Chicago Business's 1995 '40 Under 40' business leaders; received the 1999 John Hammell award from the ACLU of Illinois G&L Rights Project; was
inducted into the City of Chicago Gay and Lesbian Hall of Fame in 1994; and has been honored by dozens of community groups including the National Association
of Black & White Men Together, Lesbian Community Cancer Project, Dignity/Chicago, Greater Chicago Committee, Association of Latin Men in Action, Le
Femmes Amies, Affinity, The Task Force For African-American AIDS Prevention, Chicago NOW, and the 1987 and 1993 March on Washington committees.
